Nanterre, located centrally between the Ridgeback moutain range and the eastern wastes, has been the elven center of government for longer than anyone can remember – since the foundation of the Immortal Empire itself. It is populated diversely by those peoples whom the elves have taken under their “protection” and “guidance,” but elves still remain the majority race within the city proper.
A marvel of elven engineering, Nanterre is built upon a series of progressive steps all revolving around an offset central axis – the center of which is Emperor’s Palace which is a structure meant to resemble a large, broad-limbed tree under whose foundation and directed through whose roots is routed the waters of a great spring.
Nanterre is supported by the outlying farmland which stretches out over plains and rolling hills which stretch as far as the Ridgebacks (from northern edge to southern tail) and terminates abruptly at the border of the eastern wastes. While the cities that dot the farmland are no where as impressive as the central city, they still bear the effortless beauty of elven architecture despite the fact that most of them were built by the efforts of dwarven labor. Nanterre, however, has the pride and distinction of having been build entirely by the elves themselves, a fact which they are not loath to remind the lesser mortals of.
